GSE team from Missouri 15.03.06 The Rotary District 6040 groupStudy Exchange team from missouri in the United States of America visted the Greymouth Rotary Club Tuesday 14th March,

The team was made up of four Exchange members and one Rotary Team leader, Cindy Terwilliger, Sarah Low, Brock Legan, Jesse Heimer and Leader Gordon Hadden

The team was hosted by Rotary members Tony Sullivan, Arch Campbel and President Rob Mallinson.
The team traveled to Greymouth on the tranzalpine train from Christchurch and were met by members who taken them to local sites such as shanty town Shanty town

Tuesday Evening the Group entertained the Greymouth Rotary Club with a presentation based on their own Vocation and the region from they reside.
Wednesday morning 0830hrs Cedric Trounson collect the team from their various hosts, then following a short tour of Greymouth and the Port, were off toward the Franz Joseph Glacier.

The first official stop was the Bushmans Centre where they were entertained by 'Pete', or 50% of the towns population. Video of early deer recovery and Kiwi ingenuity, and museum.

On to Okarito lagoon for a walk on the beach while Cedric prepared a Barbecue of Smoked Albacore Tuna, followed by Rump Steak and salads,Red wine, Passion fruit topped Cheescake and Plunger coffee.

After lunch, off to Franz Joseph where the team were greeted by the Department of Concervation head ranger and public relations personell and gave an extensive talk on the region (up to 5 metres rainfall, and right on the alpine fault line).

Off to the Glacier and the team walked through the low bushland and into the Waiho river bed all the way to the Glacier

As we departed, the skies cleared and views of the peaks opened up. The team drove back to Greymouth and enjoyed the sight of the sun setting over the horizon and the Tasman Sea,to arrive back to the Greymouth hosts by 2000hrs
